Off Topic Chat / Everybody, This is Cammy

So me and my Seo' have been going steady for a while now, but I haven't been treating her how I should! With the daily grind, frustrations and sitting in traffic day to day she's acquired all sorts of bumps, scrapes and a tiny little lust for oil.

Luckily being that we're in an open relationship and both feel quite liberal to the idea of me driving another car, we agreed to allow space for another in our relationship.

Introducing, Cammy:

Cammy is a late model XV20 Toyota Camry with a  1MZ-FE 3.0 V6 producing 192BHP - I chose Cammy because she's economical and frugal at around 18MPG city and a little more highway, practical at almost 5 metres in length and comfortable (that last one is true).

Features include:
Miles of paint to wax

Kidnapping/Shoplifting facilities

Being impossible to park

Being too nice not to care about

Cammy isn't a project car and she's really just around to be driven a lot - at 121,000 miles so far there isn't a single beat wrong and most likely won't be for years to come.

So far I've:
  • Fitted the world's cheapest Lexus 17" IS200 sport alloys and tyres (One tyre exploded today)
  • Installed a Captain's hat in the rear parcel shelf
  • Fitted Bluetooth stereo with blah blah blah, it's a Sony
  • Dash Cam
  • Square plates because #JDM #noneofmycarsareworthmorethanthenextMOT
  • Repainted wipers and front grill
  • Fixed an air intake idle issue
  • Fixed a locking brake calliper and replaced front disks/pads

I'm currently sat on a long slow train to London and I came up with an idea for this thread.

If you had to replace your Paseo with a factory fresh, brand new car what would it be and why?

For me probably a GT86, in my opinion the only new car in years worth a look in.

Have some pictures next to one for comparison - you can see how modern styling ques almost make the car seem like it is puffing its chest out to look faster than it actually is.

What about you guys?

So I finally got my hands on a Corolla Intake! I've given it a quick douse in WD40 so it's ready to go in now.

I'll try and grab a few pictures when fitting for anyone else thinking about doing it. I'm a complete novice at this so anything I need to know before giving this a go would be appreciated. I'm worried I might be missing some bolts to mount the throttle - as far as I can tell this should be a straight swap though right?

Technical & Maintenance / Clutch Issues
« on: December 01, 2014, 07:55:15 pm »
So in the last month my clutch has started to feel a little dull - it seems to be when the clutch heats up, most of the time it feels okay but on some slow moving journeys in traffic - the clutch will start to slip a lot after changes and will judder moving off from a stand. The gears change without issue the whole time - but only after letting the car sit for a few hours does it feel as if the clutch is able to grip at all when changing.

On a side note I also noted (since having the car) there is a definitive lump feel when taking my foot off the accelerator in gear - as if when I release the throttle completely there is another 5% of throttle drops off suddenly, the same lump happens when I accelerate again from accelerator at rest. I've come used to driving with my foot always pressing slightly on the throttle but I've read in places this is to do with idle speed but I thought it could possibly be aggravated by a dodgy clutch.

I've got a quote from my local garage for about 350 (4 hours labour and clutch kit) to replace the clutch - but I'd appreciate some advice from people in the know before dropping all that money on what could be something else. If it is time for a new clutch and whatever else is needed is there anything I should have done at the same time? CV's any kind of mounts - I might as well go silly on it if I'm paying hundreds for labour.

I'm currently on 75,000 miles. Does anyone have any cheap G6's laying around?

So guys I just imported one of these from the states - what do you think?

I kind of like the way it looks but I know a lot of people hate these things.

Hi Guys,

Finally had time to Join up - I've had my Paseo for around 5 months now and I can't see myself getting anything else ever again.

Mine is a modest ST I found for 750 after seeing a couple of absolute sheds for the same price - it has less than 70,000 on the clock and a solid body with only a few little bumps. I've since spent a little keeping it up going well include new exhaust and major service and regular valeting. I've also just bought a set of 14" OEM Toyota Alloys to replace the steelies provided on the poverty trim paseo. Overall a pretty decent example considering it's a daily driver.

Here's a picture of the car when I took delivery:

At the moment I've got a pretty nasty rattle on the rear left strut and I will be looking to replace all four corners with subtly lower struts and springs as well as a less pathetic looking back box and tailpipe. Hopefully given time, money and effort my little Paseo might look as impressive as some of yours do!

Here's a picture of the Paseo showing up some near-by Euro-Tat:
